Your wedding day is, understandably so, going to be one of the biggest days of your life. No pressure or anything. So of course you’re going to want the day to run as smoothly as possible, and a huge part of achieving that is making sure your chosen wedding venue lives up to your every expectation.
We’re proud to be based in Manchester, and believe that it is an incredible city in which to tie the knot. But there’s still plenty to consider at the planning stages. Don’t worry, we’re here to help you along the way.
Location
Manchester is a big place, because when we say ‘Manchester’ we’re not necessarily talking about the bustling city centre itself. Where exactly you get married all depends on who you are as a couple and the kind of location you’re both going to prefer. Do you, in fact, love a buzzing and thriving metropolis? Or would you prefer to take things out of the concrete jungle and into something a little more rural?
Whichever you prefer, you certainly shouldn’t panic or worry, as there are plenty of options to suit every couple and every taste. But there are a few things to consider regardless of where you choose to have your wedding, in order to make sure the day goes off without an unexpected hitch. This includes how your guests will get there (more on this later), how much space is available, and whether or not your venue allows people to stay overnight.
Transport
One of the most important aspects of any wedding is considering how your guests are actually going to get there. Most people will drive as it guarantees that they have control over most of their journey and can travel in the comfort of their own car. But if they do so, you need to make sure parking is near or at the venue and that there is plenty to go around. On the other hand, a great deal of people will rely on public transport, so make sure that buses or trains actually come close to your venue – you don’t want to leave people stranded!
Weather
Manchester is a truly wonderful city, and we’re saying that without being biased. But if there’s one thing you need to think long and hard about, it’s what kind of weather you could be faced with on the big day. Of course, things in the UK can change instantly and the forecast is never reliable, but on this side of the Pennines you should always expect some form of rain. With that in mind, make sure you’ve got a Plan B in place if part of your wedding is going to take place outdoors.
We understand that you’re probably going to want to take some photos outside, but consider having a stunningly decorated indoor area on standby just in case the heavens open. Think about providing waterproofs and umbrellas for your guests. Even if you’ve booked a summer date, there’s no guarantee the Manchester weather will be on your side.
